I need my “Dummy” book!

I wish there was “Dummy book” for writers, but there is none. I feel like I am not blogging, but blabbing, I feel like I am not tweeting but chirping. I doubt very much that anything I have to say have any meaning to anyone but me. Plus I have this huge inferiority complex about my English and my writing, so without further a deus I decided to take matters to my own hands.  On the very first snow storm day, when everybody bundled up next to their fireplaces I went out and I bought a couple of books, which promise to teach me how to become a better writer.

Here is my selection:

“How to be a writer” by Barbara Baig

“And Here’s the KICKER” conversations with 21 top humor writers, by Mike Sacks.

…..So watch out my wonderful blogger friends, I am on my way to become better and better and my blabbing soon will be blogging, but in the mean I am losing myself in…..

“Women Food and God” by Geneen Roth.

I came to USA about 20 years from former USSR. I am an American Citizen with a heavy Russian Accent. My two boys always make fun of my English. I love to write, I usually do it for me, but if you would like to stop and leave a comment it would be great! I ‘d love to share with you my American World with the hint of my Russian Personality.

    Dear Pearl,
Thank you very much for buying my book and mentioning it on your blog. I do hope it will be useful to you.

If you would by any chance like to do an interview with me on your blog–or just have a conversation–please let me know.

    Best,
    Barbara

  2. Dear Barbara,
I am so touched by your comment and by the fact that you found me. I would love to do an interview with you. I am going on away in 10 days and will be back after the New Year. Do you think you can wait after my return.

Don’t be so hard on yourself! I can’t even tell that English is not your first language. I enjoy reading your blog all the same. And thanks for the book suggestions!

Having once edited Dummies books, believe it or not, I can say that the idea of “Writing for Dummies” was certainly discussed!
