One weekend in the country.

For some of you who know me it’s not a secret that I really, really, really don’t like winter, well not so much winter itself, but the length of it!!! It lasts here in Michigan “forever”.
Since this year was named a year of awesomeness and a year when I will conquer my fears (remember zip-lining and rappelling?? back in January), we went Up-North to the country to ski,  snowboard and ….. dog sledding…..
……and this is how it went down:
The night we arrived at the cottage we decided to “calm” our nerves with food, booze and laughter. We laughed until we cried……

The following morning we were ready, or at least we thought we were, just look at our winter gears!

can you see me?

The dog sledding was fun! We fell in love with all the Siberian, Norwegian and Alaskan huskies. They all have the most amazing human eyes and they all eager to drive you and show you a good time.
Interesting fact: there are 8 dogs in each group, guess who is leading it-FEMALE dogs, and that is why they never get lost!!!

Then we went skiing and snow boarding, well not we, just our kids and they had the most wonderful time.
It’s amazes me how easily and fearlessly kids can learn new sports, but the most adorable picture we saw was of toddlers trying to ski.  I honestly think they just learn how to stand on their two feet and now they taking skiing lessons.

While everybody was enjoying the outdoors our husbands had their own fun, I don’t think they ever left the car, oh, wait they did to smoke a cigarette and take a picture of each other.

he is dreaming of GOLF (I know him too well).

Next day it was time for us to return, but instead of going home we decided to hit the outlets mall for some retail therapy and guess what? We got lost, and ended up somewhere in Amish country, literally….

It took us about 6 hours to get home, it’s almost as long as the flight from Paris to Detroit. We are going there next time 😉
We had a fabulous time, I did not conquer any of my fears this time, and I didn’t care…. Winter is fun!!!! (well sort of)

I personally am not a winter outdoors person though it sounds like you had a marvelous time. Those Siberian Husky’s are beautiful dogs – I used to have one that had blue eyes and they were so human-like. Actually, I am not a summer outdoors person either. Camping doesn’t appeal to me one bit – My idea of camping is Holiday Inn!

Good for you! Maybe it’s not a fear so much as a way to enjoy a period that you typically do not enjoy (winter). I’ve only skiied once, and the second time my fear of heights kicked in. But I love the idea of being in the snow. Of course, we get none of that here in San Diego. Hey, maybe next time you can conquer your fear of winter in San Diego!

  6. Oh I would love to Leah, I’ve not been to San Diego yet, but heard if anywhere in the States one wants to live, this would be the place. How did you get so lucky!!! I
